Spring Production – “1776”

Congratulations to The AWARD WINNING BHS Drama production of 1776!

In May, the BHS Drama Society all-female production of 1776 won Top Honors (First Place) at the Hudson County Teen Arts Festival at NJCU in Jersey City, NJ. The talented cast and crew represented Hudson County at the NJ State Teen Arts Festival.

1776 is a musical with music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards and a book by Peter Stone. The story is based on the events surrounding the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It dramatizes the efforts of John Adams to persuade his colleagues to vote for American independence and to sign the document. Our production features an all-female cast and offers a timely retelling of the story beginning with the question: What if the “Founding Fathers” included women?
